An apparatus for reciprocating a rod of an air cylinder is provided to dry parts in a washing and drying chamber higher efficiently while maintaining high vacuum in the washing and drying chamber. An apparatus(100) for reciprocating a rod of an air cylinder(20) includes a compressed air supply source(101), a first air supply line(110), and a second air supply line(120). The first air supply line has one end connected to the compressed air supply source and the other end connected to a front space(S1) of the air cylinder. The first air supply line has an intermediate portion on which an oil container(102), a direction converting valve(103), and a first cut-off valve(104) are connected. The second air supply line has one end connected to the direction converting valve and the other end connected to a rear space(S2) of the air cylinder. The second air supply line has an intermediate portion on which a second cutoff valve(105) is connected. The air cylinder includes a cylindrical case(21), a piston unit(22) which is movable longitudinally inside the case, a piston ring(23) interposed between the case and the piston unit so as to prevent fluid communication between the front space and the rear space of the air cylinder, and a rod unit(24) having one end mounted on a front end of the piston unit and the other end mounted on a frame(4) arranged in a washing and drying chamber(1).
