<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the cost of spare parts. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has the spare parts detachably arranged. The image forming apparatus has an identification information acquisition processing means of acquiring identification information on the spare parts from the spare parts and an operation permission processing means of permitting image forming when the identification information acquisition processing means cannot acquire the identification information. In this case, when the identification information acquisition processing means cannot acquire the identification information, the image formation is permitted, so it is not necessary to arrange an identification information storage section for storing the identification information in the spare parts at shipment.
