<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, a program, and a method for compressing an image, which are capable of improving a compression rate in a three-dimensional image loss-less compression. <P>SOLUTION: The image compression device is equipped with an image dividing unit which divides a three-dimensional image into compression unit images of three-dimensional region and prescribed size; a pixel selection unit which selects a pixel in the compression unit image for each of the divided compression unit images divided by the image dividing unit as a target pixel in the prescribed order, and also selects pixels located within a prescribed range near the target pixel as reference pixels; a prediction error calculation unit which calculates the predicted pixel value of the target pixel selected by the pixel selection unit from the pixel values of the reference pixels selected by the pixel selection unit, and calculates a difference between the predicted pixel value and the pixel value of the target pixel selected by the pixel selection unit as a prediction error; and an entropy coding unit which subjects the prediction error calculated by the prediction error calculation unit to entropy encoding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
