<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag for an automobile capable of suitably protecting an occupant at deployment of the side airbag. <P>SOLUTION: The side airbag 1 for the automobile installed on a loop rail at an upper part of a driver's seat and a rear seat is provided. In the side airbag 1, chamber walls 12a-12d for partitioning a plurality of chambers are projected/formed between chambers 11a-11e divided to a plurality of parts, and in the respective chamber walls, a driver's seat side airbag 10 curved/formed in a direction opposed to an advancement direction of a gas jetted from an inflator 15 and chamber walls 23a, 23b for partitioning the chambers 21a-21c divided to a plurality of parts are projected/formed.
