PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auscultation rod which has a simple structure, is easy-to-use, and includes functions for detecting a steam leakage part easily without impairing an auscultation function. SOLUTION: The auscultation rod 1 comprises a long, narrow rod-shaped body 2 which includes a tapered shape on its one end and an ear pad part 5 on the other end. The tapered shape section 3 is brought into contact with a part to be detected, while the ear pad part 5 is put to one's ear to detect vibrations of the part to be detected as sound. A lower part 6 of the auscultation rod 1 is formed in a bifurcated shape. A detection end 7, which is the other end different from the tapered tip of the bifurcated shape, includes a steam checking plate 8. The steam checking plate 8 is guided to the vicinity of the steam leakage part to detect the steam leakage part on the basis of steam and drops of water attached to the steam checking plate 8 provided in the auscultation rod 1.
