PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start image recording from a specified position of a recording medium with high accuracy and to perform the image recording at a high speed regardless of various recording media. SOLUTION: There exist a plurality of regulating sections set at a setting position of a second detecting part as a center and a plurality of threshold values to a detecting signal outputted from the second detecting part. Either the first or the second detecting part is selected based on job information. When the second detecting part is selected, the regulating section and the threshold value corresponding to the recording medium are set, and whether the detecting signal outputted from the second detecting part is effective or invalid is judged based on these regulating section and threshold value. Based on this result of the judgement, recording of an image recording part is controlled by using the detecting signal outputted from the first or second detecting part as trigger information.
