METHOD FOR DECOMPOSING FLUORESCENT BRIGHTENING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition for decomposing a fluorescent brightening agent in a sample. SOLUTION: The method for decomposing the fluorescent brightening agent in the sample includes the step of making a redox mediator act on the fluorescent brightening agent. This step can be performed at a pH 2 to 12 and a temperature ranging from an ordinary temperature to 70°C in the presence of the redox mediator of a concentration greater than about 0.01 mmol/L and up to about 100 mmol/L. A composition is also provided to decompose the fluorescent brightening agent in the sample. This composition contains the redox mediator and a pH buffering agent, and further laccase.
