ENCAPSULATED ENDOSCOPE

It is possible to prevent generation of a flare attributed to light reflection by a lens frame. An encapsulated endoscope (1) includes a solid-state imaging element (4a) which is introduced into an organ of an examinee and captures an image of an interior of the examinee. Moreover, the encapsulated endoscope (1) includes: a light emitting unit (3a) for emitting illumination light for illuminating a field of view of the solid-state imaging element (4a); a lens (4d) for focusing the image of the interior of the examinee on a light reception plane of the solid-state imaging element (4a); a lens frame (4e) for holding the lens (4d); and a light shielding unit (8). The upper end of the lens frame (4e) is lower than the upper surface of the light emitting unit (3a) and the light shielding unit (8) cuts off at least the illumination light for the partial region of the upper end of the lens frame (4e) receiving the illumination light from the light emitting unit (3a).
