An insulator for a tundish is provided to prevent change of the position of a submerged nozzle by protecting the lower surface of the tundish from flame generated in a preheating furnace. An insulator(100) for a tundish comprises a frame(110) including a through-hole(122) such that a submerged nozzle prepared at the lower surface of the tundish is positioned in the middle of the insulator. A refractory material is filled in the frame. The through-hole has a multi-step structure corresponding to the shape of the submerged nozzle. The frame has an entrance hole(114) through which an emergency knife slides in a direction crossing the through-hole.
