This invention includes a wettable biomedical device containing a high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer and a hydroxyl-functionalized silicone-containing monomer. This invention includes a wettable silicone hydrogel comprising the reaction product of a least one silixanc containing macromer; at least one high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer; and at least one comptabilizing component as well as contact lens, medical devices and methods of obtaining such products.
