SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of an optical module 100 relating to this invention is the one including a photo-detector, and a connector for supporting a 1st optical fiber 80, and comprises: a step for disposing the connector 12 to be faced to a 1st optical fiber 80; a step for supporting one end of a 2nd optical fiber 40 by the connector to irradiate the light receiving face of the photo-detector with the light outgoing from the 2nd optical fiber; a step for measuring a quantity of light received on the light receiving face while changing the relative positions of the connector and the photo-detector and determining a fixing position for fixing the photo-detector to the connector based on the quantity of light measured; and a step for fixing the photo-detector to the connector at the fixing position, and the 1st optical fiber and the 2nd optical fiber different from each other at least in the core diameter or the numerical aperture.
