PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge absorber, capable of easily changing the distance between discharge electrodes without changing the length of the discharge electrodes. SOLUTION: The surge absorber 1 comprises a pair of protrusion electrodes 5 and 6 fixed to a pair of terminal electrode members 2 and 3 at positions shifted from the center of the terminal electrode members to be point-symmetrical with the center of a ceramic insulator tube 4, and a distance between the protrusion electrodes 5 and 6 is adjusted so as to obtain a desired discharge starting voltage.
