PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt tension adjuster which can be stably used for a long time over a wide temperature range from low temperature of ca. -40°C to high temperature of ca. 150°C. SOLUTION: In the belt tension adjuster, a pulley arm is rotatably placed to a fixed supporting shaft 1 by means of a sliding bearing 3, a tension pulley for engagement of a belt is placed on one end of the pulley arm. A piston rod of the damper is brought into contact with the other end of the pulley arm. By the press of the piston rod, the pulley arm is rocked in the belt-tension direction. Ceramic coating is applied by aerosol-deposition process on at least axially both ends of the outside periphery of the supporting shaft 1 and the inside periphery of the sliding bearing 3.
