A backlight unit is provided to dispose a prism plate at a lowermost portion of an optical sheet part for fully reflecting light projected vertically from lamps to the lamps and passing light projected slant to a front surface disposed with a diffusion sheet, thereby improving luminance uniformity of the lamps. A backlight unit includes a plate-shaped cover bottom(110) formed of metal or synthetic resin materials, and a reflector(120) secured on the cover bottom and formed of white or silver metal materials. A plurality of lamps such as fluorescent lamps(300) are disposed on the reflector in parallel to each other. An optical sheet part(190) is secured on upper ends of the lamps, wherein a prism plate(180) is disposed at a lowermost portion of the optical sheet part. |
