Disclosed is a photosensitive surface printing plate material which is free from the decrease in sensitivity caused by latent image fading and has an improved print durability. Also disclosed is a method for production of the material. The photosensitive surface printing plate material has: a substrate; and a photosensitive layer which is provided on the substrate and comprises (A) a photopolymerization initiator, (B) a polymerizable compound having an ethylenic double bond and (C) a polymeric binder, wherein the photosensitive layer further comprises a compound having a specific structure.
