PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute more highly efficient printing processing by making it possible to select a processing execution apparatus in the case of distributing processing to a printing apparatus and an imaging apparatus.

SOLUTION: The printing apparatus connected to an image processing apparatus to print out image data is provided with: a receiving means for receiving the image data from the image processing apparatus; a judgment means for judging which apparatus prepares the histogram information of the image data, the image processing apparatus or the printing apparatus; a notification means for notifying a preparation request of the histogram information to the image processing apparatus when the judgment means judges that the histogram information is to be prepared by the image processing apparatus; a histogram information preparation means for preparing the histogram information when the judgment means judges that the histogram information is to be prepared by the printing apparatus; a correction means for correcting the contrast of the image data on the basis of the histogram; and a printing means for performing printing processing by using the corrected image data.
