PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which can obtain optimum azimuth resolution for the interval of scanning lines and does not miss subject information. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus comprises: a beam former 20 for forming a transmission beam on the plurality of scanning lines L and forming a reception beam B for each of the respective scanning lines L; an image generation part 30 for generating image data on the basis of the plurality of reception beams B formed by the beam former 20; and a reception beam width control part 90 for changing the reception beam width B corresponding to the interval of the scanning lines L.
