PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating conductive superconducting fault current limiter (CC-SFCL) capable of reducing a difficulty regarding an operation of a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), such that a fault current limiter using a superconducting tape coated with a high temperature superconductor needs a long tape, thus necessitating a proper arrangement and mounting of this tape for forming a small-sized circuit element. SOLUTION: There is provided a fault current limiter formed by a superconducting tape 11 coated with a high temperature superconductor and having at least one fitting element 12. At least aforementioned one fitting element 12 retains the aforementioned superconducting tape 11, so that a main surface of this tape 11 is not brought into contact with the aforementioned fitting element 12 only in substantially one or more edge areas.
