PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defibrillator that can instruct a rescuer in proper protocol and dynamically alter the instructions provided to the rescuer. SOLUTION: The defibrillator has generating means (24, 26) to generate audible sound and/or visible images, an analyzing means (20) to analyze a heart rhythm, and a CPR instruction generator (22) which responds to the analyzing means (20) to make the generating means (24, 26) generate the audible sound and/or the visible images in forms of synchronized prompts to the rescuer upon execution of CPR to assist the rescuer to execute CPR in a rate corresponding to the synchronized prompt.
