The component production process produces a formed component from a tailored blank, and includes the insertion of a semi-finished product consisting of two parts (1, 2) into a deforming tool (8) in a press to mold it. The semi-finished product is in the form of two sheets, one at least partly over the other. They are forged tightly to each other before being laid in the press.
