An apparatus and a method for minimizing the power consumption of a power-saving mode are provided to block power supplied to an unnecessary chip in a power-saving mode state. A power supply unit(160) supplies power to enable respective blocks of an image device. A microcomputer(131) judges whether the image device enters in a power-saving mode. When the image device enters in the power-saving mode, the microcomputer(131) searches a block for determining whether to release the previously entered power-saving mode among a plurality of blocks in a scaler(130). The microcomputer(131) blocks power supplied to the other blocks except for the searched block among a plurality of the blocks of the scaler(130) in the power-saving mode.
