The present invention relates to the use of the compound escitalopram (IN N-name), i.e. (S)-1-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro -5- isobenzofurancarbonitrile, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the preparation of a medicament for improving cognition in a condition where the cognitive processes are diminished.
