PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing appropriate WB processing, and to provide a method thereof. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging part 200 having a plurality of photoelectric transducers 202 disposed on an imaging face thereof and a control part for controlling the imaging part 200. The control part has a first mode of reading out image signals from a first photoelectric transducer group disposed in a first area 301 of the imaging face and a second mode of reading out image signals from a second photoelectric transducer group disposed in a second area 302 smalller than the first area 301 of the imaging face. The control part performs such control that white balance processing of an image signal outputted from the imaging part 200 by controlling the imaging part 200 in the second mode is performed by using a correction value obtained on the basis of an image signal outputted from the imaging part 200 by controlling the imaging part 200 in the first mode and an image based on the second photoelectric transducer group disposed in the second area is generated.
