PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puffer type gas-blast circuit breaker capable of cutting off large current even with a small drive force, and having a superior current shutting off performance even in a middle to small current region. SOLUTION: A check valve 14b is provided at a partition plate 10 to divide a heat puffer chamber 11 and a compression puffer chamber 12. The check valve 14b is made in a cone shape narrowed on arc 7 side at a normal time. At the time of large current cut-off, pressure inside the heat puffer chamber 11 is high, and the split check valves 14b contact mutually closely without a gap. In this state, arc-extinguishing gas flows from the heat puffer chamber 11 side to the arc 7. When the pressure in the heat puffer chamber 11 becomes lower than the pressure of the compression puffer 12, the check valve 14b opens to the arc 7 side. When the check valve 14 opens, a passage 21 is formed between the compression puffer chamber 12 and the heat puffer chamber 11. The arc-extinguishing gas is guided to the vicinity of the arc 7 passing through this passage 21 without entirely going through the heat puffer chamber 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
