PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indicating device capable of carrying out scale changes, without the user receiving unexpected impressions or feeling of discomfort. SOLUTION: A CPU switches a normal scale image 12 to a magnified scale image 15, such that the indication position of a pointer image 13 on the normal scale image 12 which is displayed on a liquid crystal display, coincides with the indication position of the pointer image 13 on the magnified scale image 15. Furthermore, the CPU displays the magnified scale image 15 on the liquid crystal display, while gradually making the density of the normal scale image 12 small, until the normal scale image 12 disappears from the liquid crystal display, and gradually makes the density of the magnified scale image 15 large, until the density becomes a prescribed value, and the scale images are switched.
