PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a low-distortion projected image by measuring a 3D form of a projection surface without hindering observation by an observer even if changing a 3D coordinate of the projection surface and without degrading visibility of a projection image. SOLUTION: An input image input to a projector and a shot image obtained by an imaging apparatus are input to a projection image correction device in order to correct geometric distortion of the projection image displayed on the projection surface. That is, in a projection image correction device, associating pattern information is given which determines corresponding points between pixels of the input image that are input and pixels of the shot image. The projection image correction device corrects the input image by using a pattern embedding unit 9 which produces an embedded image in which associating pattern information has been embedded in the input image, a pattern detector 10 which detects the associating pattern information from the shot image, a projection surface form measuring unit 8 which measures the 3D form of the projection surface based on the associating pattern information, and a projection image corrector 5 which corrects the input image using the 3D form of the projection surface.
