PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems wherein, though use of a white light source instead of a wavelength variable laser as an optical source is an effective means, in order to increase the intensity of output light from a sample, and to enlarge a measuring wavelength range by improving a bonding efficiency between an optical fiber and the sample when introducing light from the light source into the sample through the optical fiber in a micro optical waveguide spectral characteristic evaluation device, the light intensity generated thereby is greatly reduced, and a setting work of the sample becomes difficult. SOLUTION: In this micro optical waveguide spectral characteristic evaluation device using a spherical tip-processed optical fiber having on the tip part, a spherical tip polished into a lens shape for optical coupling between the measuring sample and the light source, a curvature of the spherical tip of the spherical tip-processed optical fiber has a value in the range from about 5μm to about 15μm, more preferably, the curvature of the spherical tip of the spherical tip-processed optical fiber is about 10μm.
