WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER AND USE THEREOF IN COSMETIC AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic and a pharmaceutical compositions having good thickening and consistency-imparting properties and high electrolyte stability. SOLUTION: The cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions comprise (I) one or more non-cross-linked copolymers containing (A) one or more macromonomers having a structural unit such as a methacrylic/an acrylic ester of a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether and (B) one or more structural units represented by formula (2) [wherein, R3is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or the like; Z is a 1-8C-alkylene group; and X is a hydrogen atom, an ammonium or the like] and (II) one or more water-soluble or water-swellable cross-linked or non-cross-linked copolymeric or homopolymeric thickeners.
