A capsular shape-restoring device (28) and a method of using that device (28) are provided. The device (28) is designed for surgical implantation within the capsule (20) of an eye (10) and includes abody (42) and optionally an optic (62). The body (42) is discoid in shape and generally conforms to the shape of the natural capsule (20). As a result, the device (28) assists in returning the capsule (20) to its natural shape as it exists prior to removal of the natural crystalline lens. The device (28) does not provide accommodation, even when coupled with an optic (62). |
