Large e.g. marine diesel engine fuel injection valve has upper camber with fuel feed throttle and discharge throttle

A large e.g. marine diesel engine has a fuel injection jet (1) needle (2) that opens and closes. The needle has an upper pressure chamber (4) and a lower pressure chamber (7) for fuel under pressure. Fuel is delivered to both chambers from a pressurized reservoir (13) via a 3/2-way valve (8) thru a fuel line (18) to both chambers. The upper chamber (4) also receives fuel via a second fuel line (16) and has a release-valve (17) that opens at a predefined pressure. The upper pressure chamber (4) has an integral fuel-feed throttle (11) and a discharge throttle (10).
