<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing color filter for directly transferring a filter pattern onto a transparent substrate, wherein the transferred filter pattern has superior solvent resistance and scratch resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing color filter comprises a process of preparing a thermal transfer recording medium for manufacturing color filter, having a thermal transfer ink layer on a base material, and a transparent substrate; a process of forming an under coating layer on the surface of the side, in contact with the thermal transfer ink layer of the transparent substrate; a process of superimposing the thermal transfer ink layer of the thermal transfer recording medium for manufacturing color filter onto the surface, on which the undercoating layer of the transparent substrate is formed in a state where the thermal transfer ink layer is brought into contact with the undercoating layer; and a process of transferring the filter pattern onto transparent substrate by applying thermal energy from the side of the thermal transfer recording medium for manufacturing color filter.
