PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin particles with a uniform grain size excellent in electrostatic charge characteristics, high temperature preservation stability, and a heat characteristic, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The method for producing the resin particles (D) comprises: mixing an aqueous dispersion (W) including resin particles (A) consisting of a resin (a) containing a vinyl monomer as a constitutional unit and an agglomerating agent (E), and a resin (b) or its solvent solution, or a precursor (b0) of (b) or its solvent solution (O), and dispersing (O) in (W); further making (b0) react by necessity to form resin particles (B) consisting of (b) in the aqueous dispersion of (A), thereby to obtain an aqueous dispersion (X1) of resin particles (C) in which (A) adhered on the surface of (B); dissolving (A) adhering to (B) into a solvent in (X1) and/or to obtain an aqueous dispersion (X2) of resin particles (D) in which a shell layer (P) in which (A) is coated on the surface of a core layer (Q) consisting of (B) by dissolving; and further removing an aqueous medium from (X2) to produce (D).
