PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tailgate structure of a vehicle which is unnecessary for opening any slit for a tailgate hinge, capable of enhancing the quality feeling of the appearance of a hinge cover, and ensuring the strength of right and left sides of an upper beam of a rear opening part with the tailgate hinge being arranged therein. SOLUTION: The tailgate structure 11 comprises roof hinge fixing parts 27 formed at right and left ends of a roof panel 38, a bent part 62 formed on a hinge arm so that a hinge arm 32 extends outwardly from a hinge cover 18 substantially parallel thereto and a remaining extension is along a longitudinally opened tailgate 15, a hinge storage recess 86 formed of an opening upper beam outer plate 48 continuous to the roof panel and a reinforcing plate 54 arranged on a back side of the opening upper beam outer plate, coupling parts 72, 75, 81 coupling the hinge storage recess with the reinforcing plate 54, and a cover upper ridge part 41 for sealing the tailgate hinge 17.
