PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wire electric discharge machine easily optimizing a machining condition. SOLUTION: The wire electric discharge machine is equipped with: a machine body 50 which machines a workpiece to a predetermined shape by discharge generated by applying the high frequency pulse voltage, while relatively moving a wire electrode 11 and the workpiece 150 which are guided by a pair of upper and lower nozzles 15a, 15b; and a control device 90A for controlling the behavior of the machine body. The control device comprises: a storage part 55A where a numerical control date for numerically controlling the machine body and a three-dimensional data of the workpiece are stored; a first plate thickness calculation part 60 which calculates the plate thickness at the machining route in the workpiece based on the numerical control data and the three-dimensional data; and a main control part 78A for defining the control content of the machine body using the numerical control data and the plate thickness calculated at the first plate thickness calculation part.
