The cogwheel gearbox for tractors, and other towing vehicles, has a split gearing through a gear modification so that, on a slow input speed, the output speed is the same or faster. The split reduction is through a change in the number of teeth in at least one of the cogwheels (1,3). The mean reduction is selected to prevent a collision between the teeth at the forward drive shaft (2) and the reverse drive shaft (4).
