A spindle motor is provided to retard abrasion of a rotation axis and a thrust plate by flowing the oil concentrated on the top region of a tooth into the inside of the bearing housing by centrifugal force. A spindle motor includes a bearing housing(110), a rotation axis(130), a stator(140), and a rotor(150). A bearing(120) is installed inside the bearing housing of which an upper surface is open. The rotation axis is supported to the bearing rotatably. The stator is fixed to the peripheral surface of the bearing housing. The rotor is fixed to the rotation axis and rotates by interacting with the stator. The spindle motor also includes a device which is formed on the rotation axis and prevents oil from elevating along the peripheral surface of the rotation axis. The device consists of a plurality of teeth formed in the peripheral surface of the rotation axis. The teeth are formed along the peripheral surface of the rotation axis serially to form a teeth group.
