<p>A method for applying a bearing surface onto a work piece, e.g. a bearing shell fitted to an engine component, uses a sheet material shaped into the bearing and applied to the work piece by an adhesive layer (41). The bearing shell is made of cast aluminum and worked into a foil of thickness between 50 and 200 microns. The adhesive is heat and oil resistant, e.g. is able to withstand temperatures of at least 150 deg. C for long periods.</p> |
