PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency and accuracy of picking and to credibly reduce erroneous picking. SOLUTION: A quantity display section for displaying the quantity of medicine to be picked and a lamp are provided on each of a plurality of medicine storage devices of a medicine shelf. First, IDs of pharmacists are registered and a specific color is designated for each pharmacist. When a pharmacist is designated for a prescription, a lamp of a medicine storage device to be picked first by the pharmacist and having the ID color of the pharmacist is flashed and the lamps of all the subsequent medicine storage devices are turned on. When picking operation from the first medicine storage device is finished, the lamp of the next medicine storage device is changed from lighting to flashing. In the apparatus, the order of the medicine storage devices to be changed from lighting to flashing is determined to make the transfer distance of the pharmacist become the shortest with the pharmacist guided by the lamp. The order of the medicine storage devices changed from lighting to flashing is preferably determined to make the pharmacist move from a row of the medicine storage devices on one end to a row of the medicine storage devices on the other end of the medicine shelf.
