PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform arrangement, including the deletion of contents stored inside a limited recording medium. SOLUTION: The contents management apparatus for recording and managing contents comprises a contents recording medium, a contents recording unit for acquiring the contents and recording the contents in the recording medium together with the management information of the contents, and a contents management unit for performing recording capacity securing processing including the deletion and compression of the contents of the recording medium from the recording medium, according to the management information. The contents management unit notifies the user of notification information, including contents to be processed by the recording capacity securing processing; and when there is no replay from the user, it will forcedly execute recording capacity securing processing of the corresonding contents, on the basis of a forced processing attribute included in the management information.
