PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check weight correctly even when an article whose commodity code has been already read and placed on a placing part of a scale is removed from the placing part before completion of one transaction. SOLUTION: A self-checkout terminal retrieves a unit price and weight corresponding to a commodity code inputted from an article data file, performs a weight check by collating a weight value acquired when placing it on the placing part (in a placing table 303a, a temporary placing table 306) of a scale 301 about an article with a retrieved weight after a commodity code input, performs a commodity information registration process only when the weight checking is successful, and updates an initial weight value to the received weight value when weight reduction from the initial weight valve is determined for the weight value received from the scale 301 after the input of the commodity code.
