PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting die, which can improve casting precision by securing the fitness and flatness of a contact surface of a main die and an insert die in casting, and further to provide its cooling method. SOLUTION: The casting die 2 comprises a movable die 21, a movable insert die 23 to be attached to the movable die 21, and cooling means for cooling the required position of the movable insert die 23. The cooling means are provided in the movable insert die 23 respectively, and have first cooling passages 50 for cooling a cavity surface 23a formed in the movable insert die 23, and second cooling passages 51 for cooling the mating surface 27 of the movable die 21 and the movable insert die 23, the mating surface located on the side opposed to the cavity surface 23a.
