MOTION ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VIDEO

A method and an apparatus for describing motion activity of a moving picture are provided to describe motion activity effectively according to the change of motion as well as a size of the motion of objects in an image. A motion parameter is extracted from a moving picture(S1100). A statistical characteristic of the amplitude of the extracted motion parameter is extracted(S2100). A statistical characteristic of a direction of the motion parameter is extracted(S3100). The steps of (S2100) and (S3100) are to extract a characteristic value of statistics of individual picture's time.
