<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for an occupant restraint device having a combustion chamber with sufficient inflammability. <P>SOLUTION: A housing 32 has a first diameter-contraction part 33, a diameter-enlargement part 35 and a second diameter-contraction part 34, a combustion volume is increased, however, axial length is not changed, and a time required for combustion of the gas generator 39 from a neighborhood to an igniter 37 to a first rupture disc 40 is not increased. Quickness from operation to generation of a gas is thereby maintained.
