<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing with a rotation sensor, as a rolling bearing with a preload imparting means, having simple construction for developing a rotation detecting function. <P>SOLUTION: The rolling bearing A has a ring-shaped retaining member 6 for imparting preload to the bearing in contact with the end face of an inner ring 2 or an outer ring 1. The retaining member 6 is a magnetic encoder which has magnetic poles formed alternately in the circumferential direction. The retaining member 6 is pushed against the inner ring 2 or the outer ring 1 via a bolt passing through the retaining member 6.
