<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device designed so as to securely prevent toner from clinging to a non-contact temperature sensor, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 90 has a fixing roller 91 and a pressure roller 92 rotated in firm contact with each other, and a heater 93 for heating the fixing roller 91. The fixing device 90 passes a recording medium P holding thereon an unfixed image containing toner T, through a nip part N formed by the firm contact of the fixing roller 91 and a pressure roller 92. The fixing device then applies heat and pressure to the recording medium P, thereby fixing the unfixed image to the recording medium P. Here, the fixing device 90 is provided with the non-contact temperature sensor 94 disposed near the fixing roller 91 and is used to detect the surface temperature of the fixing roller 91, without contacting the surface. A gas is caused to flow between the non-contact temperature sensor 94 and fixing roller 91, thereby preventing the toner, floating in space, from sticking to the temperature sensor 94. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
