PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint structure in which a protrusion is not exposed on the outer surface of a flange, and enable a joint to exert performance such as high flexural strength, when ends of wide flange shapes are butt-jointed together. SOLUTION: In this structure for jointing upper and lower piles 1b and 1a of the wide flange shapes 1 having ends butt-jointed to each other, an L-shaped cross-section member 6 is arranged in the state of straddling both the ends and coming into contact with the web 2 and flange 3 of each of the piles; wedge-shaped members 4 are provided in such a manner as to be fixed to the webs 2 near the ends of the respective piles and arranged in the state of facing each other; and a V-shaped groove 6c' is formed between opposed edges 6b at both the longitudinal ends of the L-shaped cross-section members 6 and 6 adjacent to each other on each of the front and back sides of the web 2. The wedge-shaped member 4 is fitted into the V-shaped groove 6c' along with the approaching movement of both the piles during jointing, so that both the L-shaped cross-section members can be pressed against the flanges 3 and 3 by a wedge effect. The three members 2, 6, 6 and 7, which are in the state of overlapping one another in such a manner that a shear reinforcing plate 7 is arranged while straddling both the ends and sandwiching the web 2 and the L-shaped cross-section members 6 and 6 on the front and back sides of the web 2 in between, are connected together by means of a high-strength bolt 8.
