PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact heat pump device to effectively utilize the narrow inside of an outer frame case body. SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine comprises an outer tub in a cylindrical shape provided inside the outer frame case body, a washing and drying tub in the cylindrical shape freely rotatably provided inside the outer tub for housing laundry, a drying air circulation path for returning drying air which dries clothes in the washing and drying tub and flows out to the washing and drying tub, and the heat pump device provided so as to be interposed in the drying air circulation path for taking away moisture in the drying air and heating it together. In the washing and drying machine, the heat pump device comprises a compressor placed inside a main body case, a heat radiator and a heat absorber, and the heat absorber placed on the lower side and the heat radiator placed on the upper side are arranged vertically in a line.
