A power train control method of a hybrid vehicle is provided to protect an engine clutch by executing proper control operations if the engine clutch is in a burn-up state in a hybrid power train having the engine clutch connecting and disconnecting an engine and a motor. A method for controlling a power train comprising an engine connected with a torque converter, a motor installed between the torque converter and a transmission, and an engine clutch installed in a torque converter case to connect or disconnect the engine and the motor comprises the steps of: judging whether temperature of the oil measured by an oil temperature sensor mounted in the torque converter case is over a first reference value or not; forcibly combining the engine clutch if the oil temperature is over the first reference value; judging whether the oil temperature measured by the oil temperature sensor is below a second reference value or not ; and releasing forcible combination of the engine clutch if the oil temperature is below the second reference value.
