<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording aqueous ink which can obtain colored images having superior fretting resistance and an aqueous pigment dispersion for preparing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous pigment dispersion for preparing an inkjet recording aqueous ink comprises carbon black or an organic pigment (A), a copolymer (B) of an acid group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer and other copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers, a basic substance (C), and water (D) as essential components, and the above copolymer (B) contains a copolymer obtained by polymerizing an alcohol ester having 10-20 carbon atoms in total and containing a branched alkyl group of (meth)acrylic acid, (meth)acrylic acid, and other copolymerizable monoethylenically unsaturated monomers as essential components.
