OPTICAL BEACON, ROAD-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, ON-VEHICLE DEVICE USED FOR THE SYSTEM, AND DISTANCE RECOGNITION METHOD USING THE SYSTEM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical beacon for making a vehicle side to accurately recognize a distance to a prescribed position on a road positioned in front of a vehicle advancing direction in a communication area.

SOLUTION: The beacon includes a communication unit 2a having a communication area consisting of an up-link area capable of receiving up-link information and a down-link area capable of transmitting down-link information. The down-link information from the communication unit 2a includes the distance information to the prescribed position on the road positioned in front of the advancing direction of the vehicle in the communication area. A vehicle advancing direction length (a) from a starting end of the up-link area up to a final end of the down-link area is set within a range of a distance error of the prescribed position.
